Who We Are
Fostering the Future was created with one vision in mind: to help kids in need have a better education, greater amounts of opportunities, and to give them the ability to dream bigger.
Our Story
Hi! Welcome to Fostering the Future, a non-profit organization that has one vision in mind: help kids in need.
My name is Summer, and I am the founder of this organization along with my partner, Trevor. We are beyond delighted that you are here and choosing to make a difference to help youths everywhere. Let me give you a little backstory on how Fostering the Future came to be the organization that it is today.
Both being from the south suburbs of Chicago, Trevor and I realized the need in our own communities. Many families struggle to make ends meet, which can greatly impact the future of their kids. By raising awareness and working together, these kids will be able to create a new path for themselves and their future families.
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you for wanting to make a difference and be the change that many families need.
Warmly,
Summer

Summer See
Born and raised in the south suburbs, I grew up in a strong-willed household having two entrepreneurs as parents. My parents, Cindy & Michael, always taught me to dream bigger than life, and to work hard at those dreams. They instilled in me values that I consider to be priceless, and I grew up with the belief that anything was possible.

When it came time to leave for college, I was more than ecstatic to move into the city. In my eyes, the city was a door to new opportunities, experiences, and diversity that I had never experienced before. But outside of what I expected to find in Chicago, came new light for me on an issue that many, including myself at the time, choose to ignore: youth homelessness. I volunteered every Friday at the Elizabeth Ann Seton Food Pantry, and every week I looked forward to meeting new visitors, catching up with friends I made, and hearing the stories of these people who fell into such a hopeless circumstance. And what continued to surprise me each week was the smiles and light many of them would bring to visit our kitchen.
I was faced with a thought I could not answer: what can I do to help?
After my first year of college in Chicago, life was pulling me in other directions, and I decided to transfer to Phoenix to finish my schooling. I met some great friends in Arizona, one of which who took me under her wing and introduced me into her activist work. We were apart of the Maricopa County Community Activist Team, and I was quickly realizing that Phoenix was no different than Chicago since it, too, had a dire lack of attention on the homelessness issue at hand. Gang influence, drug addiction, and violence were all unavoidable paths for the homeless youth, and it made me feel helpless.
I was now faced with even bigger thought than before: will my help be enough? The answer to that question is, no. Because my help and influence alone will not be enough without the help of those around me.
The real question we should be asking is: will OUR help be enough?
The answer is a loud, resounding: YES! Together we can make a difference to help struggling youth everywhere have the option to complete their education without financial stress, find wonderful opportunities for their passions, and give them the ability to dream big and create a better tomorrow.
